Jane Daly, of Dallas, signed a contract in mid-October with Elk Lake Publishing for her novel, The Girl in the Cardboard Box, which was the Cascade Award winner in the unpublished contemporary fiction category in 2017. Expected publication date is fall 2021.

Virginia A. Johnson, of Sublimity, will have her story, “The Christmas Thief,” in one of the December 2020 issues of LIVE.

Kathleen Kohler, of Sultan, Washington, had two articles, “Operation Smith Avenue” and “Souvenirs,” in The Gem this September. Her story “Hedgerows” recently appeared in LIVE And Chicken Soup for the Soul published her story “The Driving Lesson” in their latest book, Think Positive for Teens.

Rachel Lulich, of Bloomington, Indiana, signed a contract to publish my first stage play. It will be published by WordCrafts Theatrical Press in spring 2021. Will be available as an ebook and in paperback, including performance rights.

Jennifer Anne F. Messing, of Portland, had her short story “New Beginnings” named as a finalist in the Secret Attic Hub’s 2020 Summer Short Story competition (in Great Britain). It was selected from among other finalist-placing short stories and published in their October 2020 online magazine issue.

Heidi Gaul, of Albany, Geneva Iijima, of Oregon City, and Barbara McCourtney, of Brush Prairie, Washington, have pieces in the recent Chicken Soup publication, Age Is Just a Number. Heidi’s entry is “As Good As It Gets”; Geneva’s piece is “The Perfect Pair”; and Barbara’s title is “Turning Point.”
