Mary Hake, of Crooked River Ranch, had devotions in the winter editions of God’s Word for Today and Take Five Plus. This was the first time she had been assigned the same passages for adults and teens so she used a different focus for each group from the daily Scripture passage. She also had a New Year’s poem reprinted in a missionary newsletter and a reprint story will be translated into several different languages for a Christian magazine with editions distributed overseas.
Nick Harrison, of Eugene, received word from his publisher (Zondervan) that his book, Magnificent Prayer, will be translated into Japanese this year.
Charlotte Kardokus, of Salem, received an email from LIVE, asking to purchase and reprint a story of hers, “A Slow Return,” that they published about seven years ago. It will appear in the fall 2021 edition.
Susan Maas, of Gresham, reports both a loss and a win. For years, she had written two sets of devotionals annually (Spring and Fall) for Pathways to God, a devotional booklet that makes assignments. They notified her that they are cutting back on freelance work to help with their financial picture. However, the day after that she received a check for $20 in the mail from The Secret Place for a devotional she wrote titled “Hiding from God.” She had forgotten about sending that to them, so it was a nice surprise. It will be published in their Spring 2021 issue.
