Deborah Raney, the author of more than 20 books, will keynote at the winter conference. Inspired by Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books as a child growing up on a farm, this native Kansas writer is the mother of four grown children, has five grandchildren, and is married to graphic artist Ken Raney. An advisory board member of American Christian Fiction Writers, Deborah will be on staff at Mount Hermon in April and be on the faculty for the ACFW conference in September. In addition to her novels, she has two nonfiction titles, and her work has appeared in numerous anthologies.
A Vow to Cherish, Deborah’s first book, deals with a family’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. The book became a popular made-for-television movie, and Ken and Deborah traveled to Hollywood for the premier
The first book in her new Chicory Inn series will release from Abingdon Press soon. A January Bride, her contribution to A Year of Weddings novella series from Zondervan, just became available.
Receiving the RITA, the most prominent award given throughout the genre of romance fiction and presented by Romance Writers of America (RWA), is one of the high points of her career. In addition, an ACFW Carol Award (Book of the Year), the Holt Medallion, the National Reader’s Choice Award, the Silver Angel, and becoming a finalist for the Christy Award mark Deborah’s career as an author. She has also received the Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award, and the Inspirational Readers’ Choice Award.
