Passion for Truth
by Marion Duckworth, OCW Prayer Team
We Oregon Christian Writers are grateful for the help of experts to polish our words and string them together in a pleasant fashion. They have also reminded us to take the high road in our work as lovingly as did John the apostle and confrontationally as John the Baptist.
May we always guard against any temptation to compromise our standards as Christian artists and dilute the truth with currently popular error. It’s easy to make an “attitude adjustment” in favor of moral and sexual “liberation” if we allow the entertainment industry to form the tenets of our faith.
Only if we parse the Word of God daily ourselves will we remember that the media’s definition of sin would be unrecognizable by both John the Baptist and John the beloved apostle. There is only One who can show us truth and error. He is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (from John 14:6). May we never accept a substitute despite the chorus of cloying pleas.
Remind us not only to elevate righteousness with our words, but to live it as well. For we are Your people and the sheep of Your pasture. Our passion is to allow Your truth to change the way we think and live. Thank You, Father, for revealing that truth in Your Book. We—Your disciples—accept that charge in Jesus’ name.
