Set Me Free
Read Leviticus 26, 27

We live in a world of broken hearts and lives; each of us has experienced the burden of shame and guilt for wrong choices that result in sin.

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high (Leviticus 26:13).

God freed the Israelites from their bondage in Egypt and instructed Moses on how the Israelite nation was to live in order to remain free. Likewise, Jesus broke the shackles of sin’s bondage for all people, and our Creator has given us written instructions on how to live.

As children of God, we have been set free from the domination of sin in our lives. We have been given the Holy Spirit to help us live in obedience to God. Of course, we make mistakes that we regret, but when we humbly confess each new offense, our heads are lifted high by our Savior’s forgiveness.

Challenge: Remember that you are set free from the tyranny of sin so that you can live for Jesus.

Joy of Cleansing

Failed to obey what I knew was right,

chose my own way,

shame and pain the result.

Regretting my fall,

sadness spills from a heart

that hurt the One who gave His all.

Peace shatters as Satan screams,

“Condemned!”

But

God’s word is a soothing balm that

remedies the sting of my sin-caused grief.

Confessing disobedience,

I bathe in Jesus’ purity.

He fills the cavity in my heart

with pure gold and declares,

“You are whole!”

Writer's Prayer - September 2008

Because You are all these things, we honor You. You have made us Your instruments, and we long to pour forth words to honor You.
