Rachel Hauck is the author of more than a dozen award-winning books, including critically acclaimed novels such as The Wedding Dress (nominated for Romantic Times Seal of Excellence Award) and Love Starts with Elle.
A graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in journalism and an accomplished musician, Rachel worked in the corporate software world before “planting her backside in an uncomfortable chair” to write full time in 2004.
She is a pastor’s wife and resides in Florida with her husband and pets.
A member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) executive board, Rachel leads worship at their annual conference and is a mentor for My Book Therapy with Susan May Warren. She was ACFW’s Mentor of the Year for 2013.
Rachel says her novels differ from others in her genre because she has more going on than just a romance. She includes a strong family dynamic and a supernatural element. She likes to “show” how God works in our lives with a physical manifestation or object.
When asked why she writes what she writes, Rachel says she “loves” a good romantic story and focuses on love and commitment. “I’m such a Pollyanna.” She chose romance because it’s the number one genre, and she always gravitated toward romantic books and movies.
Her writing process includes drafting about 70,000 words; then she starts over and may use all or most of the first draft. She then rewrites and edits again. Rachel says, “Book are not written; they’re rewritten.”
Now, Rachel has “planted her backside” in her two-story tower in “an exceedingly more comfy chair” and continues to produce her popular inspirational romantic fiction.
