Summer Conference – August 12-15, 2013

OCW’s Summer Coaching Conference is becoming known as one of the country’s best Christian writing conferences, with top editors, agents, and authors coaching 12 intensive morning classes and 30 one-hour afternoon workshops. We’d love to have you join us!

“There’s something about OCW that makes it a standout among writing conferences. It’s a tangible sense of the Spirit moving, inspiring, and drawing people deeper into Jesus as they journey along the path of publishing.” James L. Rubart

Our popular manuscript review program, mentoring appointments, one-on-one meetings with editors and agents, panels with industry professionals, and daily worship services provide opportunities to learn and fellowship in a professional, relaxed atmosphere.

“What a wonderful and challenging conference! I learned a lot about myself, and the Lord spoke to me in many ways about how putting what God is doing through me into my work improves the writing and makes me more effective for God’s kingdom.” Pastor Tom Fuller

liz-curtis-higgs-300Evening sessions will feature bestselling author and speaker Liz Curtis Higgs as our main keynoter.

“The coaching classes, the teachings, and the speaking with professionals completely changed my whole perspective on my writings. I went to the conference to learn, not to pitch, and I came out with a clear and strong vision of exactly what I want to write. I learned more in three days than I had learned in the eight years I had been writing.” Sonia G. Roy, London, England.

Georgene_1Popular local radio host Georgene Rice of KPDQ will close our conference as the final Thursday morning speaker.

“An inspiring, full schedule. Wonderful people. Thank you. I felt loved and valued!” – SC conferee

This year, our conference will be held at at the beautiful Jantzen Beach Red Lion Hotel in Portland, OR.

Some of our exciting faculty includes:

Literary Agencies: The Steve Laube Agency, MacGregor Literary, William K Jensen, WordServe Literary, Books & Such, The Seymour Agency, and Les Stobbe Literary

“I loved being there.” Agent Chip MacGregor

“I really liked the addition of the writer’s wisdom minutes where an editor or agent would give a short thought or two on writing. That was a neat way to get a bit of a different perspective and hear from a few more people. The nature thoughts were nice, too—fascinating facts to think about.” Susan Maas

Book Editors from: Abingdon Press, AMG, Bethany House, David C. Cook, Harvest House, Marcher Lord Press, Regal Books

“I had a wonderful time. You guys did it again—provided a well-run conference that was good to both faculty and conferees. Aldersgate rocks, too. Please pass along my thanks and appreciation to all.”  Lonnie Hull DuPont, Revell, a division of Baker Publishing

“I thought the 2012 event was a great conference.” Kim Moore, Harvest House Publishers

“I wanted to express my gratitude to you and the entire OCW staff for having me with you and for the hospitality and kindness extended by every single person involved. I so greatly enjoyed meeting everyone and participating, and I could tell that the writers were greatly encouraged by all they were able to learn at the conference. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it!” Wendy M. Wetzel, Editor, Trade Books, Baker Publishing Group

Magazine and Newspaper Editors from: Clubhouse Jr./Focus on the Family, Christian News Northwest, The Upper Room, Today’s Christian Woman/Christianity Today, Bible Advocate, The Christian Journal, LIVE
