Hemmed in Hope
by Marilyn Rhoads, OCW Program Coordinator
Cynthia Ruchti spends her days diving into words, worship, and wonder. One of her greatest joys is helping other writers grow in their craft. She is well-versed in offering assistance because of her breadth of expertise in nonfiction, fiction, articles, devotionals, editing, radio production, television work, and public speaking.
She has been the assistant director and a faculty member of the Quad Cities Christian Writers Conference, co-directed the Green Lake Christian Writers Conference, served as worship and devotions staff for the Write-to-Publish conference, and taught at other conferences.
Rather than “busy,” she prefers the term “active.” She also served a two-year term as president of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and currently serves as ACFW’s Professional Relations Liaison.
The author of 15 books and winner of Oregon Christian Writers’ Cascade Writing Contest Contemporary Fiction Award in 2015, Cynthia tells stories “hemmed in hope.” Her novels and novellas, nonfiction books, and devotionals draw from 33 years of writing and producing an on-air radio broadcast. Her books have been recognized by the Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award, Selah awards, Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence, Christian Retailing’s Best awards, Carol Award honors, FamilyFiction Readers’ Choice Award, and ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year honors.
Cynthia’s articles have appeared in a number of publications and online resources, including Christian Communicator, Charisma, Marriage Partnership, Christian Fiction Online Magazine, and others. She wrote a monthly column for Wisconsin Christian News and has written a number of feature articles and is currently writing for More to Life, CBA Retailers + Resources, Christian Retailing, and other industry publications.
She has more books contracted and plans to create stories of “hope that glows in the dark.” She and her plot-tweaking husband live in the heart of Wisconsin, not far from their three grown children and their five outrageously adorable grandchildren.
